Please note: This is a legacy item. It is no longer in production and we can’t replace the copies we have. It is possible that a reservation for this camera might not be filled if one of the remaining copies becomes damaged – we can’t replace it.

The sports shooter’s (and lots of other shooters’) dream: 10 megapixels on a 1.3 crop sensor, 19 cross point autofocus sensors with 26 assistant sensors, ISO 100-3200 (actually usable at 3200, too), and 10 frames per second for up to 110 images. Truly amazing. It has a wider dynamic range and maintains better shadow detail with lower noise than its predecessor, and the initial reviews of its image quality, particularly in shadow detail and at high ISO, are all raves.

I’m simply blown away by this camera. It’s a bit smaller and lighter than the Mark II N, but very solid in the hand, shoots at a machine gun rate, has phenomenal image quality, and autofocuses (in my experience) better than anything else I’ve shot with. To be honest, as a non-sportshooter, the Mark II N was never my favorite camera – I felt the 5D and 1Ds Mark II both gave better images, and I rarely needed the frame rate. The Mark III, on the other hand, is in my bag more and more. It focuses like a dream, and the images are much smoother with a noticeable improvement in dynamic range, which makes this camera much more like the 5D and less like the 1D Mark II N. ISO 1600 images from the Mark III are as good as ISO 800 from the Mark II N.

Only Britney Spears’ night life has garnered more internet attention than the AI Servo focusing issues on the 1D Mark III. We saw the problem only rarely before “the fix”. And yes, every last one of our Mark IIIs have all been to Canon for the latest mirror box and firmware updates. Our upgraded cameras all seem to function perfectly, both in our hands and in those of numerous customers.

Note: All of our cameras ship with one fully charged battery, instruction sheet, the battery charger, and a bag. A lens does not come with the camera. Additionally, due to the license agreements, we cannot send the Canon software with the camera.
