Canon TS-E 90mm f/2.8

First, if you aren’t sure what this is, you don’t want it.

For those who do, this is a standard format, full tilt and shift manual focus lens, one of four in Canon’s lineup. The 90mm, along with the 45mm TS-E, is generally thought to be among the sharpest lenses in Canon’s line up. Please note: this is a manual focus lens best used by those who either already know or have time to learn how to use it effectively.

Roger’s take: We usually are very helpful when you have questions about equipment. In this case, we’ll be limited to comments like “Really!” and “isn’t that interesting!” and "another customer told us that. . . " None of us have gotten past hacker status with this lens, but even hackers can use it to manipulate the depth of field and, with a little trial and error, to adjust parallel lines to straighten perspective when shooting architecture. Overall, it’s a most handy lens when the need arrises.

One thing I’ll mention (again) after an experience last week – if you call and tell us the autofocus is broken we’ll tell you not to play with the big-boy toys at recess anymore. All tilt-shift lenses are manual focus only.
