![]() One of the most popular of Canon’s L-series primes, this very sharp, fast lens is a wonderful long portrait and “head and shoulders” lens on full-frame cameras. On crop frame cameras, it’s a great short telephoto or long portrait lens. The f/2 maximum aperture provides narrow depth of field, produces great bokeh, and allows clean shots even in dim light. Roger’s take: Full disclosure first: I love primes, and this prime was my first love. It’s special- one of those lenses that other photographers go “what did you shoot that with?” when they see the print. I use it a lot for head and shoulder portraits when I want some space between myself and the subject. This lens is also great for photographing kids and toddlers when you want to be far enough away to catch spontaneous shots. Specs:
