The ‘photojournalists lens’, the 70-200 f/2.8L IS is known for providing extremely sharp images, even with the aperture wide open. Its wide aperture and IS allow handheld shooting and creative opportunities in the most demanding conditions, and the image quality is as good as most prime lenses. If you haven’t used one before, this is a rather heavy lens— twice the weight of the 70-200 f/4L or 70-200 f/4L IS.

It’s a remarkable lens, and by far our most popular rental. We now have 113 copies of this lens and still have trouble keeping it in stock, so we suggest reserving it in advance if possible. For those who know they will be shooting at fast shutter speeds the f/2.8 non-IS offers the same image quality at a lower cost.

The lens does come with the tripod mounting ring and lens hood.

Roger’s take: Southern English has several advantages over Standard English. First among these is a far more diversified set of curse words. Second is that it has two forms of plural address, one addressing members of small groups (y’all) and the inclusive form for all members of large groups (all y’all). All y’all need to try this lens at least once.
