Sigma 50-150mm f/2.8 DC HSM OS for Canon

Available Today

The Sigma 50-150mm f/2.8 DC HSM OS is a fast aperture telephoto lens designed specifically for use with Canon APS-C crop-frame cameras. It has a 35mm-equivalent focal range of 80-240mm, making it ideal for sports and event photography. The f/2.8 aperture and in-lens Optical Stabilization allows for images with a smooth background blur and is great for low-light shooting.

The quiet HSM motor provides fast autofocusing in nearly all conditions, with full-time manual focus an option for those where AF is not optimal. The 50-150 features six SLD elements to minimize chromatic aberrations, as well as Sigma’s Super Multi-Layer Coating for reduced flare and ghosting throughout the zoom range. The built-in tripod ring allows the lens to be mounted to a tripod or monopod for improved stabilization weight distribution.

Please Note: This lens is designed for use with crop-frame cameras only. It will vignette if used on a full-frame camera.

I was ready to not like this lens. Heck, I was ready to not carry this lens. Its predecessor in non-OS version had such sample-to-sample variation it just about drove us insane. But Sigma has done a lot with their quality control lately and we don’t see the same problems with this lens.

Like many Sigma lenses, this is unique: you get a crop-sensor equivalent to a 70-200 f/2.8 in a much smaller size. It’s got excellent optical stabilization and excellent image quality. It doesn’t autofocus quite as quickly as a Canon, but otherwise it’s hard not to like. Especially when you consider you’re getting an f/2.8 zoom for about half the price of a 70-200 f/2.8 IS II.
