![]() A cult favorite for crop sensor cameras (T2i, 7D), this lens combines great center sharpness and a very wide aperture. It’s compared, not unfavorably, with Canon’s legendary 35mm L-series lens. Very popular for indoor shooting in low light conditions. It’s also quite small physically, a lens you can literally tuck into a jacket pocket. Only Works With: Crop Sensor Cameras Roger’s Take: This lens is a bit of a conundrum: it’s a nice, sharp, and inexpensive prime. However, it has trouble autofocusing in low light on Canon bodies (more so than other versions of the lens for other brands). We assume that has something to do with how Sigma has reverse engineered the Canon autofocus algorithms. It’s still a great lens, but if you’re going to be working in low light I’d say the Canon 35 f/1.4 is worth the difference here.
