Nikon FT1 F-Mount Lens to Nikon 1 Adapter

The Nikon FT1 Mount Adapter allows you to use Nikon F-mount lenses on the 1-series cameras. It provides control of autofocus, exposure, VR, and aperture on compatible lenses. This opens up the lens selection for the 1-series. Do keep in mind the 2.7x crop factor of the 1-series sensor, so most lenses will become a telephoto. Both mounts are of metal construction, and the adapter has it’s own tripod mount to prevent stress on the camera’s mount.

However, it does have it’s limitations. AF is limited to the AF-S mode, so no continuous focus via AF-C. Also, you’ll only have access to center focus point only. You cannot use teleconverters, extension tubes, some vintage lenses or the Nikon PC-E 24mm f3.5 with the adapter. For a detailed list of compatible lenses and function limitations, take a look here.

Please Note: The FT1 adapter provides AF and AE with AF-S lenses only. Many of the Nikon D-lenses will work, but they will not give you AF.

Do you already own or are looking to try a Nikon 1-series camera? You gotta try the FT1 adapter. If you’ve wanted images with a more shallow depth of field than the 1-series lenses, this is how you get it. While the 2.7x crop factor of the camera’s sensor size limits your choice of effective wide-angles, it makes mid to telephoto lenses amazing. Take your Nikon V1 with the FT1 adapter attached and slap on a Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 AF-S VR II, you have yourself a 189-540mm f2.8 equivalent lens with VR! Yes, you’re limited to center point, single servo AF, but if you’re subject isn’t coming at you fast, you can make it work. I’ve put a slew of Nikon lenses on to try them out, and every time I’ve been very impressed. While the adapter in combination with a Nikon F-mount lens is kinda bulky on the 1-series cameras, it’s still quite fun. If you’re already carrying a Nikon 70-200 and DSLR, why not put this adapter and V1 in your bag as well. You’ll be quite surprised by the image quality!
