The Planar offers a reasonably wide-aperture 50mm lens known for its very low distortion, excellent sharpness, and 10 bladed aperture ring which provides smooth out-of-focus highlights. At a very reasonable price.
Please Note: Zeiss M-mount lenses do not come with a lens hood.

Lets get the slightly bad part out of the way: maximum aperture is f/2. The good parts go on and on, though—sharp as a tack, tiny enough to easily in your pocket, and inexpensive compared to its Leica counterpart. A great little lens, with slightly warmer color rendering compared to the Leica 50mm lenses.
