The Westcott Ice Light is a portable, handheld continuous light source that’s great for adding a soft, pleasing light. Its 150-watt output with wrap-around light quality makes it indispensable whether your shooting stills or video. It works great as a quick, on-the-go interview light for events or filling shadows when larger light setups aren’t possible. Since it uses LEDs, you’ll never have to worry about heat burning you subject or damaging other equipment. It features a very sturdy construction, giving you peace of mind that it can hold up to the rigors of all types of shooting. Powered by a built-in rechargeable battery, the Ice Light can run for 60 minutes on a 2.5 hour charge, meaning no more AA’s. If working next to a wall outlet, you can make use of the light while charging. That’s right, two birds, one stone. If you need additional battery life, you may want to rent the Westcott Ice Light Power Pack Battery as well.
For ultimate flexibility, there’s 1/4"-20 threads on both ends of the light batton, making it easily mounted to a lightstand for times when no assistant is available. The Ice Light is daylight-balanced at 5,200-5,400K, depending on the dimming level selected.
Please Note: The Ice Light is flicker-free when set to full power. If you need to dim the light, you’ll need to watch for flickering.
I’ll be entirely honest here, this is BY FAR my favorite item we carry. The light output is very soft, making it a great choice for quick portrait shots or interviews. However, even if the light output wasn’t amazing, I’d still love it. Why you ask? Two words: Star Wars. No other reason needed.
