The Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 X OIS is a fast aperture standard range zoom lens for Micro 4/3rds mount cameras and camcorders. It has a 35mm equivalent focal length of 24-70mm, filling the hole of the standard go-to lens that long plagued the Micro 4/3rds format. It features Panasonic’s Power O.I.S. in-lens image stabilizer, which offers twice the amount of correction as Panasonic’s previous Mega O.I.S. stabilizer. Its nearly-silent autofocusing motor works great with both photo and video shooting, but if manual focus pulls are needed, it has a very smooth manual focus ring. The fast f/2.8 aperture is perfect suited for low-light event shooting, as well as shallow depth-of-field portrait shooing.
As for optics, Panasonic went all-in with Nano Surface Coating to reduce ghosting and flare, Ultra Extra-Low Dispersion glass to minimize chromatic aberration, and Ultra High Refractive glass to give strong corner to corner performance. Throw in the four Aspherical elements, and you’ve got one of the strongest performing Micro 4/3rds lenses available. It doesn’t stop with the inside of the lens, as the Panasonic 12-35mm also features a dust and splash-proof design, as well as a strong, metal lens mount.

I shoot it mostly on an Olympus body, so I haven’t tried the OIS on this lens, but other’s tell me it’s very, very efficient. Probably the only warning I have is do NOT put the sun in your image. This lens will flare, most definitely it will flare. But otherwise it’s just about perfect.
