Shooting video? Try our Video section for video specific support and accessories!

The sequel to the D3, the D3s contains all of the D3s great features in a professional body with a 12.1 MP full-frame sensor. The D3S captures JPEG or RAW images at up to 9 frames-per-second with a buffer is equally impressive and can handle up to 42 RAW files or 130 large JPEGs. It can also capture 720 HD video at 24 fps (with stereo sound) under the lowest of lighting conditions. It has dual CompactFlash (CF) slots, and can capture up to 4200 exposures per battery charge

The D3s has amazing low-light performance with and ISO range of 200-12,800 (expanded mode has even higher settings at the expense of significant noise and some image quality reduction). It also has advanced D-Lighting for maximum shadow and highlight details in stills taken under difficult lighting conditions, a D-Movie mode for similar image optimization when shooting video.

The D3s also automatically corrects lateral chromatic aberrations regardless of lens type. As with the D3 it has a superb 51 point autofocus system and 3D Matrix color metering.

All of our cameras ship with one fully charged battery, the battery charger and a bag. A lens does NOT come with the camera and for copyright reasons we cannot furnish the manufacturer’s software.

PLEASE NOTE: because of copyright regulations we cannot send the Nikon software with the camera.

Roger’s take: A nice, although incremental upgrade to the D3. It has even better high ISO performance, perhaps a full stop better, maybe a bit less than that. You get video capability, of course, if that is important to you. A better camera than the D3? Yes. Make you want to sell your D3 to get one? No. I’m usually blunt so here you go: There’s nothing here that justifies paying $1500 more than you would for the excellent D3.
