Better than consumer grade, ideal for travel telephoto zoom. There, I summed it up in one incomplete sentence. It is really an excellent lens, not very large, so ideal for getting reasonably long telephoto shots with very good quality, and a lot easier to lug around than an 80-400 or a big Sigma zoom.
