A wide range telephoto zoom with Vibration Reduction that allows the lens to be handheld 4 stops of shutter speed lower than would otherwise be expected. Also internal focusing, so the lens doesn’t extend and the front element doesn’t rotate during focusing. The Silent Wave Motor makes autofocusing quick and quiet. This lens is reasonably sharp with good contrast for the range and price.

Roger’s take: Better than consumer grade, ideal for travel telephoto zoom. There, I summed it up in one incomplete sentence. It is really an excellent lens, not very large, so ideal for getting reasonably long telephoto shots with very good quality, and a lot easier to lug around than an 80-400 or a big Sigma zoom.
