![]() The Nikon 14mm f/2.8 is a very sharp, ultra wide-angle rectilinear prime lens. With a huge depth of field, low distortion, and a fast aperture it makes a marvelous landscape and architectural lens, often used for indoor architectural work. D40/60/5000/3000 owners – You will not be able to autofocus with this lens. Please consult your owner’s manual for compatibility. *Please note: a screw on filter will not attach to this lens due to the curvature of the glass. Roger’s take: Well my first thought was “why use this when the 14-24 f2.8 is the best wide angle zoom in the world”. Not to mention this is an older design with a bit of chromatic aberration in the edges. And at f2.8 the zoom may resolve a bit better in the corners, despite the fact this is a prime. But this does have some advantages. Its much smaller and easier to carry around. And unlike the zoom it doesn’t suffer focus shift so if you’re shooting at f3.5 or f4 this may be a better choice. And while pixel peepers will notice the 14-24 is a bit better in the corners, they are otherwise very comparable: sharp, distortion free lenses that provide and exceptionally wide angle view. Specs:
