![]() A classic 35mm Zeiss lens in Nikon mount. This is a manual focus, autoaperture lens. For those who haven’t shot with them, Zeiss primes are known not only for superb sharpness but for exceptional contrast and color. The 35 provides Nikon shooters with a world class moderately wide angle prime lens. The ZF.2 designation adds a microchip to the lens that automatically lets the camera know time, aperture setting, and manual exposure settings, including those for cameras that are not AI-compatible. Since the lens now transmits the EXIF data photographers no longer need to set the parameters manually. Optically the ZF.2 lenses are identical to the original ZF lenses, so if these functions aren’t important to you you save some money by getting the original ZF mount. Roger’s take: Probably my favorite of all the ZF lenses, partly because its just so good. Partly because it has corner to corner sharpness that even the D3x can’t complain about. And partly because its just sooooo much sharper than anything else available in this focal length. Nothing else (including the Canon 35 L and Nikon 35 f/1.4) can touch it. Sale of Zeiss ZF.2 lenses: We are a registered Zeiss dealer and sell new in box, fully warrantied Zeiss ZF lenses. Our arrangement with Zeiss USA requires we order sale and rental copies separately, so there is a one week delay in getting you a new copy. Specs:
