The Pentax SMC DA* 16-50mm f/2.8 ED AL SDM is a high-quality normal range zoom lens that is designed for exclusive use with Pentax DSLRs. With a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 24-76mm, it’s an ideal zoom for portraiture and event/wedding photography, as well as general everyday use. The fast f/2.8, 9-blade aperture makes it a great low-light performer, providing smooth bokeh with excellent background separation. Through the use of two ED elements and 3 aspherical elements, the DA* 16-50mm provides sharp images with very little optical aberrations.
As one of Pentax’s DA*-series lenses, the 16-50mm f/2.8 has several key features that set it part from many other lenses. Since it’s designed for crop-frame APS-C sized sensors, it offers a reduced physical size and weight. It features DA*-series’ standard fully weather-sealed build, with Pentax’s SP-coating for a dust and water resistant front element. Also DA* standard is the SDM Focus System, which provides smooth, quiet autofocusing via the supersonic autofocus motor drive.
