It provides quite a bit of reach in a relatively small package. Its f/5-6.3 maximum aperture is a tad slow, so we don’t recommend it for sports shooting, but it is reasonably lightweight.

Build & Optics. Build quality is a bit behind current lenses, this lens feels pretty plasticy. Optically, the 200-500 gives a good bit of bang for your buck with quite sharp results throughout its zoom range IF you can get shutter speeds fast enough to rule out camera shake. With no stabilization, that means a tripod is pretty much a must.
