  • Digital Bolex D16 Cinema Camera with Micro 4/3 Mount

The Digital Bolex D16 w/MFT Mount was made to give the already popular D16 a more diverse selection of lenses. Key features include:

    • Micro 4/3 Mount. This version of the camera includes the passive Micro 4/3 lens mount, with an emphasis on passive. There’s no electronic communication between camera and lenses, so only fully manual native Micro 4/3 lenses will work on the camera. Alternately, use a lens adapter to open up the true potential of this camera!
    • RAW Workflow. Created from the ground up with raw capture in mind, this camera cannot capture any compressed footage internally.

    DOES NOT INCLUDE A LENS!

    Warnings:

    • This camera does not have an internal microphone. If you want to capture any audio, you will need some form of external mic.
    • This camera has a crop factor of 2.70×. This means that for any lens, no matter what brand or mount, you will need to multiply the focal length by 2.7 (i.e: a 50mm lens on this camera will look like a 135mm lens would on a full frame camera) For more information consult this crop factor article.
    • The D16’s monitor is located on the top of the camera. It is best viewed from above and cannot be easily viewed from any other angle, so we strongly recommend an external viewfinder (like Zacuto’s Z-Finder EVF).
    • The D16’s internal SSD is formatted in HFS+. Windows users will need extra software to read the HFS volume and transfer footage off of the camera. There are many options, this one is free.
    • The Micro 4/3 version of the D16 comes standard with a bottom plate attached that adapts it for use with 15mm rail system baseplates. However, this plate makes it so you can’t use the pistol grip. If you want to use the pistol grip, the plate can be removed with a Phillips head screwdriver (not included).
    • We cannot rent the D16’s exclusive Lightpost software, but a demo is available for download here. Lightpost is only available for Apple OSX, so we recommend Windows users try Davinci Resolve Lite. We prefer Resolve anyway, and it’s free, so it’s got that going for it.
