While we no longer rent this product, we do carry the Leica X – Typ 113. Additionally, you may find alternatives on the left-hand side of this page (see Recommended section).
The Leica X-E (Typ 102) Compact Camera is a large-sensor compact camera and update to the Leica X2. Key features include:
What’s New. Well, the camera looks different. The titanium-colored, magnesium-and-aluminum constructed body with metallic silver leatherette is the only difference besides the fancy new name. From a specs standpoint, you’re looking at the X2.
16MP APS-C Sensor. Produces high-quality images with very good low-light performance. The eleven-point contrast-detection autofocus system gives you decent autofocus speeds with good accuracy.
Leica Elmarit 24mm f/2.8 ASPH Lens. The lens provides a 36mm focal length after sensor crop, making it great for general use. The f/2.8 aperture allows some background separation and low-light shooting, but it’ll probably leave you wanting more.
Manual Controls. There are manual dials for both shutter speed and aperture. A quick button press lets you adjust exposure compensation and ISO using the rear control dials.
Other Notable Features. The 2.7-in. rear LCD leaves much to be desired in terms of resolution, but the accessory shoe allows you to use the much better Leica EVF2 Electronic Accessory Viewfinder (separate rental item). There’s a retractable pop-up flash for quick fill; a hot shoe for using an optional, more-powerful external flash; and native DNG raw files. Images are recorded to SDHC/XC memory cards, and the included rechargeable battery offers roughly 450 shots per charge.
