The Lensrentals Podcast Episode #17 – How Rick Sammon Creates Killer Travel Images

Published February 13, 2020

Each week Roger Cicala, founder of Lensrentals.com, hosts conversations about the art and science of capturing images. From photography to videography, film, history, and technology, the show covers a wide range of topics to educate and inspire creators of all kinds.

How Rick Sammon Creates Killer Travel Images

Rick Sammon, a Canon Explorer of Light, joins Ryan and Joey to discuss his photo tour travels around the world, why you should be able to adjust your own camera in the dark, and why emotional intelligence is so important for photographers to possess. Rick was introduced to photography at a young age and has never lost interest in it. Between creating images, leading photo workshops, and making personal appearances, his enthusiasm for digital imaging is contagious. Never one to be bored he also teaches guitar and has written over 40 books

In this episode, Ryan and Joey also talk about some of Rick’s favorite gear, including the Canon EOS R camera system. They also talk about all things travel, how to photograph a scene instead of just a subject, and how it’s important to know and understand your gear before shooting an assignment.
