Lensrentals Acquires BorrowLenses

Published March 7, 2024

We have some exciting news to share with you today! Our inventory just got a major upgrade as we recently acquired select assets of the BorrowLenses business, an online marketplace for photo and video equipment rental. With this acquisition, we have expanded our already industry-leading inventory of photo/video gear even further, offering you access to more than 400,000 copies of 6,000 different cameras, lenses, and photo/video production tools. This means we can now offer you an even wider range of rental options, providing everything you need for any production.

We’ve maintained the highest reliability of video and photo gear, with the lowest equipment failure rate in the industry, by staffing incredibly hard-working techs to inspect, clean, and repair equipment before and after each rental. Any equipment we add to our inventory will be cleaned and inspected to ensure it meets your needs and our high standards.

So, what does this mean for you as a customer? Let’s dive into the details. This acquisition adds a significant amount of gear to our inventory, giving you more options when it comes to finding the tools that work best for you. Additionally, with an expanded inventory, we can now maintain higher quantities of gear on hand, all while keeping our competitive prices. Finally, this acquisition will give you more options in our Keeper program, allowing you to buy lenses and cameras from one of the most reputable sellers in the used gear market.

Since our founding in 2006, we’ve maintained a friendly competition with BorrowLenses for just shy of two decades, and we’re excited to have them join the Lensrentals family. As always, we’ll continue to improve the rental experience and offer the best customer service in the industry so you can focus on what matters most: creating the best work possible.

Q&A

How will this change the customer experience?

Our aim and hope is that it will not change the experience at all! The Lensrentals customer support team will remain available to answer any questions you may have, and our techs will continue to meticulously clean and inspect every piece of gear before and after each order. Local pickups will still be available for the current Lensrentals locations.

Will this affect the pricing of gear rentals?

Lensrentals will continue to be the most competitively-priced rental house in the industry. This will simply allow us to stock more copies of gear and offer better service to our customers.

I’m currently in possession of a BorrowLenses order. How do I return it?

Orders due back to BorrowLenses can be sent back using the normal BorrowLenses return label. For longer-term orders, Lensrentals will be contacting customers directly with new return labels. If you haven’t received a new return label by the time your order is due to be returned, reach out to support@lensrentals.com.

I have a BorrowLenses order reserved. Will that still be fulfilled?

In short, all orders currently reserved will be fulfilled accordingly. Depending on when the order is set to arrive, it may be through the BorrowLenses platform, or through the Lensrentals platform. If there are any discrepancies, we’ll be sure to reach out to you directly.

Can I still use my BorrowLenses gift card or rental credit?

Yes. As we migrate accounts, we’ll ensure that all gift cards and rental credits will be transferred to the Lensrentals system accordingly. If you have a credit or gift card that you’re unable to redeem, just let us know and we’ll be happy to help.

Will I still be able to pick up my orders at the BorrowLenses office?

After March 11th, local pickups will not be available at BorrowLenses. We’re happy to offer free shipping to a nearby FedEx location for customers who pick up normally!

What kind of customer support does Lensrentals offer?
We’re extremely proud to offer the best customer service in the industry. From placing orders to answering technical questions, we’re always happy to help a customer in need. If you have any questions, feel free to give us a call at (901) 754-9100, or email us at support@lensrentals.com.

I mean, good news for Lensrental I guess and I’ll have to use Lensrental instead of BorrowLenses in the future. But can you pay Roger Cicala more or something to make him continue his MTF tests series?
