The Sony Alpha NEX-3N is an entry-level mirrorless camera targeted towards those who want point-and-shoot simplicity with improved image quality and the ability to change lenses. It features a 16MP APS-C CMOS sensor that has an ISO range of 100-16,000, allowing much better low light performance than a traditional point-and-shoot. The NEX-3N’s Intelligent AF system uses contrast-detect autofocus and 25 focus points to ensure sharp images, with the ability to switch to full manual focus if needed. The 3.0" rear LCD tilts 180° up for shooting self portraits, and 13° down if shooting with the camera overhead.
For those interested in video, the camera also shoots Full HD 1080i video at 24 and 60fps. Images and video are recorded to SDHC / XC memory cards (not included), and the included battery is rated for approx. 480 images.
Included in the kit is the compact Sony 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 PZ OSS standard zoom lens. It features an electronically-activated, retractable power zoom that’s activated when the camera is powered on. Built around the shutter button of the camera is a zoom rocker switch, making the camera and lens operate similar to a traditional point-and-shoot and allowing the lens to come in a a mere 1.18" when not in use. It’s 35mm-equivalent focal length of 24-75mm makes it a great choice for a everyday, walk-around lens. It has Sony’s built-in OSS stabilizer unit, providing up to 4-stops of correction.
