Back in the day (five years or so ago), I loved this lens. I raved about it. I said people should shoot it more. That was then. Now (2019), this lens has been bested. The newer IS II version is dramatically better, and the price difference is honestly well worth it. If you’re on a tight budget and this one rents for much cheaper, it’s still a decent lens. Be advised that you’ll be able to tell the difference, even on a crop-sensor camera. It just can’t resolve fine detail as well as the IS II version.
