Comparable to Canon Zooms. A strong competitor to the two midrange Canon zooms, the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 XR Di LD is smaller and lighter than both. It’s nearly as sharp as the Canon zooms, has a wide aperture, and is significantly less expensive than the Canons. Its fast, constant f/2.8 aperture allows for great subject-background separation and makes low-light shooting possible.

Advanced Optical Design. Its fourteen-group/sixteen-element optical formula features extra-refractive index and low-dispersion elements, which give you sharp, high-contrast images across the image plane. By utilizing an aspherical element, the 28-75mm produces high color accuracy and very little chromatic aberration.

Fast, Accurate Autofocus. It autofocuses accurately and almost as quickly as the Canon zooms, and its internal-focus design means the lens doesn’t extend during autofocus. The non-rotating front element allows uninhibited filter use.

Very Wide Angle. If you don’t have another lens to cover wide-angle shots, it may be important to consider that 24mm (on the Canon zooms) is quite a bit wider than 28mm.
