What’s New? The GoPro HERO13 Black offers a few different upgrades to its predecessor, the HERO 12, including the incredibly powerful GoPro Enduro Rechargeable Battery for HERO13 Black, Burst Slo-Mo mode, and an array of new optional accessories, like the GoPro Waterproof Shutter Remote, GoPro Macro Lens Mod, GoPro Ultrawide Lens Mod, GoPro Magnetic Latch Mount, GoPro Magnetic Latch Ball Joint Mount, and the GoPro Contacto Power Door.
High Quality, HyperSmooth. For both photo and video, you can enable HDR/HLG to produce crisp details in your shadows and highlights. The HERO13 is capable of capturing 5.3K60 video, up to 27MP raw photo, and 24.7MP frames from your videos using the Quik app. The upgraded HyperSmooth 6.0 technology helps reduce image cropping, while 360° Horizon Lock steadies your footage even if the camera rotates completely!
Creative Screen Capture. You can choose between 16:9 widescreen, 9:16 vertical, and 8:7 full-frame aspect ratios to help capture a variety of shots in different scenarios. The full-frame option captures a 156° FOV that lets you crop in to create widescreen and vertical shots in post production with the Quik app.
Bluetooth and Camera Control. Improved Bluetooth capabilities allow you to connect a microphone for more precise audio, or wireless headphones to unlock voice controls and monitor audio. The HERO13 offers two control modes: easy control for a more point-and-shoot approach, and pro control for fine tuning all settings, features, and modes, which you can then set as a preset.
Same App and Shooting Options. While it’s worth noting that the Hypersmooth image-stabilization system has been improved, GoPro’s smartphone apps remain largely unchanged for the HERO13 camera and offer familiar features like TimeWarp, HDR photos, and night lapse video while letting users control shooting modes like burst and scheduled capture. Photos can still be captured in JPEG or GoPro’s RAW format.
To Wrap Things Up… This everything-proof camera makes for great content creation whether you’re biking the trails or swimming the seas. It’s weatherproof, waterproof up to 33 feet, and even the included battery features improved cold temperature performance. There are plenty of more advanced features available with the HERO13, like being able to choose between 8-bit or 10-bit color for smoother gradations in your footage, a HyperView digital lens that will take the 8:7 aspect ratio footage recorded by the new image sensor and deliver it as a wide-angle 16:9 shot, and the ability to connect your camera directly to your home Wi-Fi and automatically upload all recorded footage to the cloud.
