Advanced optics with ARNEO & Nano Crystal coatings
Fast, quiet autofocus system with full-time manual focus
Nikon Z System. The Nikon Z 50mm f/1.2 S was designed specifically for cameras in Nikon’s full-frame Z-mount system. Z-mount lenses only work with Z-mount cameras, such as the Z7 and Z6, and Z-mount cameras are only natively compatible with Z-mount lenses.
Fast-Aperture Normal-Length Prime. The 50mm f/1.2 S’s normal focal length is great for just about any type of photography, and is popular with portraits, landscape, and street photographers. The extremely bright f/1.2 aperture offers extensive depth-of-field control when working with selective-focus techniques, and allows you to keep shooting even in very low light. Using a DX-mount camera? You’ll get a 75mm equivalent focal length.
Multi-Focus Autofocus System. This system uses two synchronized autofocus drive units to deliver fast and accurate operation throughout the zoom range. It uses stepping motors for smooth, nearly silent performance that’s great for stills and video alike. You also get full-time manual focusing for precision adjustments, while the internal-focusing design means that the lens maintains its length during focusing.
Advanced Optics. The 50mm’s fifteen-group/seventeen-element optical system includes three aspherical elements and two extra-low dispersion elements for sharpness, clarity, and accurate color rendering. ARNEO and Nano Crystal coatings help keep ghosting, reflections, and flares at bay; multiple elements include a Super Integrated Coating to ensure consistent color accuracy; and a fluorine finish on the front and rear elements helps prevent smudging.
High-Quality Build. This lens’s durable, moisture-resistant construction means you can use it in adverse conditions without worry. A programmable control ring lets you adjust manual focus, aperture, or exposure compensation. A built-in top OLED information panel lets you quickly confirm aperture setting, focus distance, and depth of field figures on the lens in bright or dark conditions.
