Nikon, but Make it RED. The Nikon ZR 6K Cinema Camera offers everything you love about Nikon Cinema, like Z-mount lens support, internal stabilization, a compact form factor, and the numerous cages, microphones, and accessories you’re used to, but adds the color science of RED with support for REDCODE RAW in addition to N-RAW and ProRes RAW. The color space and Log curve is the same as what you’d find on RED cameras, making the ZR a perfect companion to production workflows.
The Usual Cinematic Suspects. The ZR boasts more than just RED-ified color. Operators can load up to ten LUTs for real-time preview on the four-inch touchscreen display. Video capture options include 6K60, 4K120, and 1080p240, an advanced 9-subject autofocus, CFexpress Type B compatibility and micro-HDMI output, and built-in microphones. These mics can be configured to your preferred directional pattern and record at 32-bit float and 24-bit recording. The line input, accessory shoe mount, and headphone jack offer external recording and monitoring.
Still a Nikon. The Z-mount accepts a wide range of NIKKOR cinema and third party lenses, and a large accessory ecosystem means you can configure your rig exactly how you like. The built-in stabilization may rattle while the camera’s turned off, but it locks in place when you start recording, providing up to 7.5 stops of stabilization. The ZR works with EN-EL15c batteries and USB-C power.
