The 1.4X is the teleconverter I recommend with few reservations. You can use it with any of the lenses above and have just a little deterioration in image quality (and of course give up one stop of light). The 2x converter I really recommend only on the f/2.8 telephoto primes and the 200mm f/2.0 lens. You can certainly use it on some of the others (although autofocus may be impaired or not work at all depending on the camera you’re shooting). The 1.7x is the compromise. You lose 1.5 stops of aperture and give up some image quality, although not a huge amount.

Remember, too, that a teleconverter gives you a double whammy: your exposure time and the focal length of the lens are both increased. This makes technical issues more likely so a sturdy tripod, mirror lock up, etc. are often critical to getting sharp images.
