The Panasonic DMW-BG2 Battery Grip attaches to the Lumix DC-S1RII and, when paired with a DMW-BLK22, will effectively double the battery life of the camera. The spare battery and the in-camera battery together will provide up to 660 images vs 340 with the in-camera battery alone. When both batteries are installed, the grip’s battery is the one that drains first.

In addition to providing an extra battery slot, this grip serves an ergonomic function. It is equipped with a second set of controls for easier use when shooting vertically. These controls include a shutter button, joystick, AF/AE lock, front and rear control dials, and more. They operate the same way they do on the main body, with the Fn button being customizable.
