Portable, All-In-One. The Roland VERSELAB MV-1 is a compact, comprehensive music creation machine that lets you write and mix songs without the need for a computer. It has a range of tools, an intuitive workflow, an expansive library of over 3000 onboard Roland instrument sounds, and quarter-inch and XLR ports so that you can connect your own mics and external instruments.
Tactile Controls. This workstation features hands-on controls, a 4×4 matrix of ultra-responsive lighted RGB pads, complete with 16 stages of velocity in select modes, and TR-REC step sequencer that’ll be familiar to anyone who’s used a Roland drum machine. You can use the tactile controls to play parts as quickly as they come to you so you don’t lose them.
Versatile Vocal Mode. The VERSELAB’s Vocal Mode lets you record up to sixteen vocal takes per song, each of which you can access via one of the unit’s trigger pads. Simply plug a mic into the XLR input, which offers 48V phantom power for condensers, and you’re ready to go. There are plenty of vocal effects at your disposal—including auto-pitch, doubler, harmonizer, and radio filter—to ensure that your vocals are processed exactly the way you want them in each section of your track. You can also copy and paste your vocal takes where you want them within your song.
Roland Sound Library. Roland synth and drum-machine sounds have helped define forward-looking music since the early ‘80s, and this workstation includes over 3000 curated instrument sounds. These include the legendary TR-808 drum machine and the SP-404 sampling workstation, a favorite tool for lo-fi beatmakers.
Mixing Mode. Once you’ve finished tracking, the VERSELAB’s comprehensive Mixing Mode gives you control over the EQ, levels, panning, and effects you’ll need to arrive at your final mix. Once you’re there, you can add mastering effects across the entire bus and then store your finished tracks on an SDHC card with up to 32GB capacity.
Expandable. While it’s possible to completely track and mix your song using the VERSELAB hardware, you can also connect the VERSELAB to your computer, tablet, or smartphone to expand your production capabilities. You can use Roland’s Zenbeats app via a simple USB connection to mix your songs, bounce tracks, and use plug-ins, or you can dump your tracks into your preferred DAW for mixing and further tracking.
Collaboration-Ready. The VERSELAB is compact, portable, and can be powered by a mobile battery, so you can use it to make tracks just about anywhere. If you prefer in-person collaboration, you have the freedom to do it. If you want to collaborate online, it’s simple to use the Zenbeats app for cloud storage. You can also just email tracks back and forth.
