The DJI RS 2 Gimbal Stabilizer is a compact, single-grip gimbal designed to work with popular DSLR and mirrorless cameras up to 10 pounds. It’s a larger version of the DJIRSC 2 Gimbal Stabilizer. Key features include:
Supports up to 10 pounds of equipment
Designed for DSLR & mirrorless cameras
Offset roll motor enables monitoring from camera displays
1950mAh battery grip for up to 12 hours of use on a single charge
What’s Changed? While DJI RS 2 might look similar to its predecessor, there are some key design differences. The two most notable upgrades from the DJI Ronin-S 3-Axis Gimbal Stabilizer are a 1.4" full-color touchscreen and carbon-fiber construction. Carbon fiber not only decreases the overall device weight, it also allows for heavier payloads up to 10 pounds. Uninterested in being tied to the app? You can now control all settings right on the screen.
Fine-Tuned for Fast Scenes. Equipped with the DJI Titan stabilization algorithm and SuperSmooth mode, the RS 2 can withstand some pretty strenuous shooting situations. If you’re in an environment where constant shaking is inevitable, like on boats and in cars, SuperSmooth goes full throttle to eliminate those small movements. Going full Fast & Furious mode? Supplement the RS 2 with the DJI Ronin Expansion Base Kit for pairing with car mounts, jibs, and cable cam systems.
Offset Roll Motor. A DJI offset gimbal design keeps the roll motor positioned below a camera’s integrated monitor and helps reduce weight by eliminating the necessity for external monitoring. The design also improves stabilization when swapping between upright and underslung modes.
Accessory Support. The Ronin S 2 has three USB-C ports on the camera platform and two 8-pins near the control panel for connecting and powering compatible accessories for focus control, audio capture, and monitoring. 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 threaded sockets on the bottom of the grip provide multiple options for attaching the included tripod and other accessories. The camera platform itself uses a quick release plate to enable simplified balancing, setup and breakdown. While it can get a little crowded on this slim stabilizer when using myriad cables and accessories, it’s worth it for the reduced overall weight, especially for those long shooting days. Speaking of which, the battery life on this gimbal is great, with 12 hours of runtime with the included grip and a stunning 29.5 hours with the optional DJI RS BG70 Battery Grip.
