Sony Airpeak S1 Professional Drone & Gremsy Gimbal T3 Kit
The Sony Airpeak S1 Professional Drone & Gremsy Gimbal T3 Kit is a powerful quadrotor drone that can fly select Sony cameras on its Gremsy T3 three-axis gimbal. Key features include:
Quadrotor drone with three-axis camera platform for select Sony cameras
55.9 mph max speed & 0-50 mph in 3.5 seconds
12-minute flight time with max payload & 1.2 miles line-of-sight
Compatible camera and lens not included
Three-Axis Gimbal-Stabilized Camera Platform. The Sony Airpeak S1 Professional Drone & Gremsy Gimbal T3 Kit is a robust aerial camera platform for select Sony cameras like the Alpha-series mirrorless line, the Sony FX3 Full-Frame Cinema Camera, and the Sony FX3A Full-Frame Cinema Camera. The kit can handle camera and lens combos up to 5.5 pounds and send them flying through the air at up to 55.9 mph. The Sony Gremsy Gimbal T3 included with this Airpeak S1 drone rental offers 345° of panning and 120° of tilt adjustment.
Single Operator Controller. We include one S1 remote for direct control of drone flight. An iPhone or iPad up to 7 inches wide can be attached to the remote for realtime camera monitoring, controller also allows for external monitoring via an HDMI output. Need a second remote for dual operator control? No problem! Additional remotes are available here as separate rental items. We highly recommend users reference this preflight checklist prior to and while using the Airpeak to ensure the drone is setup properly.
Flight Modes. The gimbal includes various flight modes for full obstacle avoidance, high wind scenarios, repeatable flight path, and can be customized as a mix and match. Obstacle avoidance is handled by stereo cameras situated around the drone and can trigger an obstacle brake that slows or completely stops flight.
12 Minute Flight Time. Sony reports that in ideal conditions (read: not the places you’ll likely be using it), this drone has a twelve minute maximum flight time with the maximum payload. If you are flying the drone with no gimbal, you can expect more like 22 minutes of flight.
Drone Control From 1.2 Miles. The included controller simultaneously sends control signals and receives video-transmission signals at up to 1.2 miles with ideal line of sight. This controller has both 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz frequencies so that you can avoid interference and eliminate image lag. Again, Sony reports this as the maximum distance with ideal line-of-sight conditions, so your literal mileage may vary.
Companion Software. Sony offers a few software solutions to accompany this gimbal. Airpeak Flight is run on an iPhone or iPad for flight statistics, drone flight plan control, and a camera live feed. Airpeak Base is optional web-based software that lets you manage a full fleet of S1 drones and create detailed, automated flight plans that can be executed in the Flight app. Flight paths can be repeated and include camera and gimbal movements with manual override by operators using the remote controller.
Drone Bound to the Included Remote. By default, the drone will arrive bound to the controller that’s included with this rental, so you won’t be able to use your own remote. If you have any special requests regarding controller binding, please contact us.

When it comes to drone cinematography, the Sony Airpeak S1 is unmatched. The fact that it’s the smallest drone that can carry a full-frame mirrorless Sony Alpha-series camera puts it in a league of its own.
I mounted a Sony FX3 with a Sony FE 50mm f/2.5 G lens and had absolutely no problems adjusting the exposure settings and controlling the gimbal mid-flight through the drone controller. Steering was extremely intuitive and the setup was hassle free. The only downside is the twelve-minute flight time at maximum load, so prepare to have extra batteries on hand.
If getting those crispy clean cinematic aerial shots is your jam, the Sony Airpeak S1 is your jelly.
Pros: Ability to use Sony Alpha-series camera bodies and E-mount lenses for aerial cinematography Cons: Battery life
