What’s Changed? Building off of the design of its predecessor, this FE 100-400mm f/4.5 GM OSS from Sony offers improved performance at the long end of the range through an updated constant f/4.5 aperture. The updated ED XA, XA, Super ED, and ED lens elements are equipped with Nano AR Coating II to deliver sharp, rich, and vivid capture while suppressing flares. Offering an increase to the amount of rounded diaphragm blades from 9 to 11 creates creamy, smooth bokeh quality when you’re using selective-focus techniques. With a new focus floating design, this lens offers high image quality throughout the entire focal range and a massively decreased minimum focusing distance of just 2.1-feet.

Full-Frame E-mount. As a part of the FE line of lenses, the FE 100-400mm f/4.5 GM OSS is designed for Sony full-frame cameras. It’s also fully compatible with APS-C cameras, on which it’ll provide a 150-600mm equivalent focal length.

Telephoto Zoom with IS. This is a far-reaching telephoto zoom that’s great for sports, wildlife, and action photographers and videographers who are looking for some extra reach. An Optical SteadyShot image-stabilization system minimizes the appearance of camera shake at all focal lengths, giving you sharp images even when you’re shooting hand-held at lower shutter speeds. The SteadyShot system will work with select cameras’ built-in sensor-shift image stabilization for even more effective blur control.

High-Speed AF. Operating on four extreme dynamic (ED) linear motors, this lens boasts fast, smooth autofocus performance that outshines its predecessor’s speeds by 3×. With support for continuous shooting speeds up to 120 fps or high-speed video recording at up to 240 fps, this telephoto zoom also offers 50% more accurate tracking performance and improved subject tracking.
