The Tamron 90mm f/2.8 SP DI Macro VC USD II brings some much-needed updates to its predecessor. Key features include:
Short Tele/True Macro. The Tamron 90mm f/2.8 serves as a dual-purpose lens. As a macro, it offers a full 1:1 magnification ratio and an 11.81-inch minimum focusing distance. At 90mm, it also serves as a great portrait lens, with the f/2.8 aperture enabling decent subject-background separation.
Higher Quality Standards. The 90mm f/2.8 joins Tamron’s prosumer SP (Super Performance) line, meaning that it features improved build and image quality over previous Tamron lenses.
High-Quality Optics. Its eleven-group/fourteen-element optical formula includes two extra-low dispersion elements and one low-dispersion element for reduced chromatic aberrations. The eBAND lens coating combines conventional multi-coating with a layer of nano-structured coating to minimize flares and ghosting.
Ring-Type USD Autofocus System. An Ultrasonic Silent Drive motor provides fast, precise, and quiet autofocus performance. It also enables full-time manual focus control without having to shift into a dedicated manual-focus mode. A focus-limiter switch constrains the lens’s focusing range for faster performance. You can select 1.6 feet to infinity, 11.8 inches to 1.6 feet, and 11.8 inches to infinity.
Built-In VC Image Stabilization. The built-in vibration compensation minimizes the appearance of camera shake for sharper hand-held shooting in low-light conditions.
TAP-in Compatible. This lens is compatible with Tamron’s TAP-in Console for Nikon.
