The Wimberley Sidekick attaches to a ballhead, converting it into a gimbal head for use with large telephoto lenses. The ballhead you use must have an Arca-Swiss type quick-release plate. We recommend using them for lenses up to 500mm f4 IS and smaller telephoto lenses. Keep in mind that the ballhead must be pretty heavy duty, such as the Markins Q20 Heavy Duty Ballhead w/ Knob Release.
