I plugged this cable into a switch and now it won't power on. What happened?

HowlNet is a CAN Bus cable and uses proprietary standards for passing power and transmitting data. Plugging it into a network switch or router can damage the device’s internal electronics, which likely caused the switch to fail. You’ve probably fried it.

Can I use this cable as a normal Ethernet cable?

No. This cable should never be connected to an Ethernet switch, router, or network device. It carries power, and connecting it to networking equipment can cause permanent damage.

Is this just an Ethernet cable?

HowlNet is a proprietary CAN bus cable designed specifically for Arc Eye WOLF ONE nodes and only WOLF ONE nodes.
Please note, using HowlNet to connect an Arc Eye node to ethernet devices like a switch is likely to damage the ethernet device.
