The Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive is the first camera made for Apple Immersive Video. Equipped with a custom lens system and dual 8K sensors, this unique design makes shooting stereoscopic large FOV video intuitive and streamlined. Key features include:
Dual 8160 × 7200, 58.7MP sensors
Dual 210º fisheye lenses
Dual 5” touchscreens (1 fold-out)
180° media format for Apple Immersive Video
Immersive Capture for the Masses. The Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive is designed specifically for stereoscopic capture in Apple Immersive Video, which is a powerful 180º media format for immersive content, sports, concerts, documentaries and more. To support the complex task of shooting for 3D and VR, Blackmagic has streamlined the experience by equipping the camera with dual 8K sensors and fixed stereoscopic lenses that are custom-calibrated for 180º views. The sensors are an incredible 58.7MP apiece and the lenses are spaced at just the right distance for human binocular vision. By putting all the ingredients for 3D filming into a single unit, the entire process is made much more approachable. More people can now experience the creative rewards of this future-forward format while seasoned pros save time and money.
Fool-Proof Features. Supporting this unique way of filming, the camera sports a large 5” HDR touchscreen with a Heads Up Display (HUD) that will show you the 180º view as captured by the camera. Toggle between the left and right 210º fisheye lenses, tap to reframe, and get accurate field of view information from the point of view of your eventual audience. This all helps take the guesswork out of composing for immersive footage. A second, fixed 5” touchscreen lets your crew observe progress and settings without having to deploy external monitors. The layout of the controls was decided after consulting with some of the world’s leading cinematographers. Expect a much faster workflow thanks to extensive physical buttons to reduce time spent on navigating menus. However, the menu system operates on the same OS as other Blackmagic Cine cameras, making moving between systems easy.
Speed and Storage. The camera is set to 90 frames per second to accommodate the Apple Vision Pro’s display frame rate. If you are shooting for something other than the Vision Pro, you have the option of lower frame rates. The iris of each lens is fixed at f/4.5-5.6. Depending on whether you’re shooting with a 180º, 270º, or 360º shutter, you may find yourself in ultra bright conditions and not wanting to drop your shutter speed. Fortunately, the URSA Cine Immersive has built-in ND filters, giving you more flexibility in exposure. This complements the camera’s awesome 16-stop dynamic range. To handle the massive file sizes and fast frame rates, footage is recorded in Blackmagic RAW, where camera metadata, lens projection data, digital slate info, and LUTs are stored for maximum consistency from on-set to the editing desk. This also allows clean rendering without distortion by skipping the arduous task of equirectangular stitching. Everything is recorded to the included Blackmagic Media Module, which is super fast, very rugged, and offers an ample 8TB of storage.
Connection Collection. XLR-in, USB-C expansion, 12G-SDI-out, and 10G Ethernet are among the industry-standard connections on the Cine Immersive. There is a 2-pin LEMO connection for accessories and a 3-pin Fischer RS port that’s compatible with wireless follow focus systems, triggers, handles and more. Included are antennas for high-speed Wi-Fi and a 19mm baseplate for easy transitions from tripod to shoulder. Both an AC power supply and a B-mount battery plate are provided for flexibility in powering the camera. Please note that batteries are not included.
