Canon RF Mount. The Canon RF 35mm f/1.4 L VCM belongs to Canon’s line of RF-mount lenses. It’s compatible with Canon RF-mount cameras, but does not work with Canon EF-mount cameras.

Ultra-Fast Wide-Angle Prime. This lens’s 35mm focal length means it’s suited for a range of applications, including wedding photography, landscapes, photojournalism, and night shooting. Its extremely bright f/1.4 aperture provides excellent low-light performance, and its rounded eleven-blade diaphragm gives you smooth, cinematic bokeh and great depth-of-field control for selective focusing.

This lens’s eleven-group/fourteen-element optical formula includes two Ultra Low Dispersion elements and two aspherical elements that minimize chromatic aberrations and color fringing while providing high clarity, color fidelity, and edge-to-edge sharpness. An Air Sphere Coating (ASC) is applied to each of the lens elements to reduce ghosting.

Hybrid Moments. The 35mm is a hybrid lens that’s optimized for video and stills alike. An iris ring gives you manual control over the iris while you’re capturing video, and the combination of a ring-type Nano Ultrasonic Focusing Motor (USM) floating-autofocus system and Voice Coil Motor (VCM) rear-autofocus system are fast, highly accurate, and nearly silent whether they’re operating separately or in tandem. You get full-time manual-focus override for precision adjustments, and there’s essentially no focus breathing. The combination of an f/1.4 aperture and 11-inch minimum focusing distance lets you get in close to capture stunning, artistic images.

Controls and Construction. The 35mm f/1.4 L VCM features a control ring and button that you can individually configure to adjust a range of common lens and camera functions. A dust- and weather-resistant build protects against the elements so you can use the 35mm in adverse conditions, while a fluorine coating on the front and rear lens surfaces keeps smudges, fingerprints, and other debris at bay.
