The Fuji X-E4 is a compact, versatile, rangefinder-style X-mount camera aimed at enthusiasts, and an update to the X-E3. Key features include:
26.1 MP, rear-illuminated X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor
Quad-core X-Processor Pro 4 engine
UHD/DCI 4K30p 4:2:2 10-bit color external video capture
Fast, quiet 425-point hybrid autofocus system
What’s Changed. The Fuji X-E4 offers several improvements over its predecessor. It features a revised 26.1MP APS-C X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor, a new quad-core X-Processor 4 engine, an updated 425-point hybrid autofocus system, DCI 4K 30p video capture without cropping, and a slightly smaller but slightly heavier build.
26.1MP APS-C X-Trans CMOS 4 Sensor. The Fuji X-E4’s X-Trans 4 sensor produces extremely sharp and clear images throughout its normal ISO range of 160-12800, thanks to the omission of an optical low-pass filter. This sensor is designed to produce images that more closely mimic the look of film when compared to conventional sensors’ pixel patterns.
X-Processor Pro 4 Engine. The X-Processor Pro 4 engine’s quad-core design facilitates great low-light performance and supercharges operation speed. It greatly reduces startup time, shutter lag, and general navigation. The combination of this engine and the X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor extends the ISO-sensitivity range to 80-51200 and increases the maximum continuous shooting rate to 8 fps with full resolution and the mechanical shutter, 20 fps with full resolution and the electronic shutter, or 30 fps with a 1.25x crop and the electronic shutter.
Intelligent 425-Point Hybrid Autofocus System. The X-E4’s hybrid autofocus system uses contrast- and phase-detection methods for fast, accurate performance in a wide range of lighting conditions down to -7 EV. Its 425 selectable phase-detection points cover almost the entire sensor area for pinpoint focusing, even when capturing a fast-moving subject.
UHD and DCI 4K Video. This camera has a broad range of video capabilities. It can internally capture 4K UHD and DCI video at up to 30 fps in addition to capturing in Full HD at up to 240 fps for ultra slow-motion playback. The X-Processor 4 gives you improved video performance, including fast read speeds and reduced rolling shutter distortion when you’re filming moving subjects. The X-E4 can output 10-bit 4:2:2 footage to an external recorder or monitor via Micro HDMI, and you can use one of Fuji’s many built-in film-simulation modes to give your footage a distinct look.
Two Viewing Options. The X-E4 features the same 2.36m-dot electronic viewfinder and tilting 3.0-inch 1.04m-dot rear touchscreen LCD as the X-E3, both of which make for easy image review.
Retro Design. The retro-styled camera body features a sturdy, lightweight build. There are analog shutter-speed and exposure-compensation dials, a dedicated focus lever, and physical buttons for many other controls and functions. This all makes for fewer menu-diving expeditions.
Additional Features. You get built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity for file sharing and remote camera control and a range of filters and film-simulation modes. The X-E4 is powered by an included NP-W126S battery, which provides roughly 380 shots per charge when you’re using the EVF. The single SDHC / XC slot supports UHS-1 memory cards (not included).
