Dual-motor autofocus system with full-time manual focusing
Nikon Z System. The Nikon Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S was designed specifically for cameras in Nikon’s full-frame Z-mount system. Z-mount lenses only work with Z-mount cameras, such as the Z7 and Z6, and Z-mount cameras are only natively compatible with Z-mount lenses.
Fast-Aperture Telephoto Zoom. The 70-200 f/2.8 VR S provides a portrait to short-tele focal range, making it perfect for sports, event, and portrait photographers. The relatively fast f/2.8 aperture offers some shallow depth of field, while allowing you to keep shooting even when the lights get dim. While this lens was designed for FX-format cameras, you can also use it with DX-format cameras on which it’ll provide a 105-300mm equivalent focal-length range.
Vibration Reduction. The built-in vibration reduction provides up to five stops of correction for minimizing camera shake at slower shutter speeds and producing sharper results when shooting hand-held.
Multi-Focus Autofocus System. This lens’s multi-focus system incorporates two synchronized autofocus drive units to give you fast, accurate performance throughout the zoom range. This system’s stepping motors provide smooth, nearly silent performance that’s particularly suited to video applications. You also get full-time manual focusing for precision adjustments, while the internal-focusing design means that the lens maintains its length during focusing.
Advanced Optics. The 70-200mm’s 18-group/21-element optical system includes 1 fluorite element, 1 short-wave refractive index element, 2 aspherical elements, and 6 extra-low dispersion elements. ARNEO and Nano Crystal coatings help keep ghosting, reflections, and flares at bay; multiple elements include a Super Integrated Coating to ensure consistent color accuracy; and a fluorine finish on the front and rear elements helps prevent smudging.
