Please note: by far the number one “it didn’t work like I thought it would” item we rent are Pocket Wizards. Please read every word below to avoid having your shoot ruined.
PocketWizard’s transmitter/receiver for triggering remote flashes. One unit mounts on the camera’s hot shoe and transmits to others on remote flashes or powerpacks (or remote cameras, etc.). The Plus has a 1600 foot (theoretical) range and 4 channels so you can select one not being used by other photographers. Requires 2 AA Alkaline batteries (not included).
Rental price is for 1 PocketWizard – if you need one to send and one to receive, then you’ll need to rent two, etc.
If you are working with shoe-mount flashes
We send one Pocket Wizard to PC cord with each Pocket Wizard. This will allow it to connect to a Canon 580 EX II or Nikon SB900 flash (or other flash that has a PC cable input). Canon 480EX II, Canon 580EX, Nikon SB 600 and Nikon SB 700 flashes DO NOT have PC input.
If you are working with a studio strobe kit
You will need to add the proper cord to your order (they are listed below and rent for $1, just so we can keep track of them). If you don’t rent the proper cord, then your pocket wizard won’t connect to your lights. If the pocket wizards don’t connect to your lights, they won’t flash. If they don’t flash you have just wasted a lot of money.
- PocketWizard to Phono for Dynalite Studio Kit and Profoto Acute 2R lighting kits
- Pocket Wizard to 1/8 Mini for Paul C Buff / Alien Bee Strobes and Ringlight and Profoto D1 500/500 monolight kit.
Just so we’re clear: our website is very advanced but does not have a mind reading feature. We have no idea how you are going to hook up your pocket wizards, what other equipment your are using them with, or what type of cables you may already have. We will send whichever cables and Pocket Wizards you order, or don’t order. If you meant to order it but didn’t, thought it came with the equipment (it doesn’t), or assumed we knew what you would need (we don’t) you will be using very high ISO on your shoot and we will not be able to refund you money.
Note to Sony Shooters: If you are using a Sony Alpha camera you must also rent the Sony Auto-Lock Camera to Standard Flash Adapter to mount the pocket wizard to your camera.
