It offers two zoom-adjustment methods: a conventional twist mechanism and a push-pull mechanism. The 100-400’s zoom range and rounded nine-blade diaphragm make it great for wildlife and nature photography. You can also use this lens on DX models, on which it’ll provide a 150-600mm equivalent focal length.

Its 15-group/21-element optical design features four Super Low-Dispersion glass elements that correct for chromatic aberrations and color fringing while ensuring high image sharpness, clarity, and contrast throughout the zoom range. A Super Multi-Layer Coating minimizes lens flare and ghosting, helping to provide high contrast, even in strong lighting.

Hyper Sonic Motor Autofocus System. The autofocus system provides fast, smooth, and quiet operation in a broad range of shooting situations. You can also manually override the autofocus motor at any time by rotating the focusing ring, giving you quick fine-tuning ability.

Optical image Stabilization. The 100-400mm’s built-in optical image stabilization system minimizes the appearance of camera shake, allowing you to shoot hand-held and in other unstable conditions without worrying about your photos’ sharpness.

Teleconverter Compatible. You can use the optional TC-1401 and TC-2001 teleconverters (separate rental items) to extend this lens’s reach to 140-560mm f/7-9 and 200-800mm f/10-12.6, respectively.

Dock Compatible. This lens is compatible with the Sigma USB Dock for Nikon F Lenses (separate rental item), allowing you to adjust the focus limiter, autofocus speed, microfocus, and OS settings through the Sigma Optimization Pro software.
