Professional Cinema Production. The RED DIGITAL CINEMA RED RANGER MONSTRO 8K VV (Gold Mount) features a shimmed PL mount that houses the 8K sensor, a larger built-in fan for improved thermal performance, and an integrated Gold Mount battery plate for fuel. This 8K camera solution is ideal for use in high-end production, but is also great for personal and individual use. This camera provides an LCD screen surrounded by control dials and knobs that are customizable for your production needs, an an integrated velcro patch is also included for camera labeling.

Ports and Button Controls. Right underneath the PL mount, you’ll find two microphone inputs: the one located on the right controls channels 1 and 2, and the input located on the left controls channels 3 and 4. On the front-left side of this unit are two 3-pin cable inputs for controlling remote start/stop and run start/stop. Moving to the right side of the camera, you’ll find a red record start/stop button, and two user buttons labeled “1” and “2” on the top and bottom of the record button. Holding both of the user buttons at the same time will eject your RED MINI-MAG SSD, but you do have the ability to program either button to do what you need them to! If you decide to add an EVF or LCD to your rig, a connector can be found on the right side of this unit and both the EVF or LCD are connected using a separately available flush mounted adapter. Attaching a DSMC2 Touch 7-inch LCD is quite simple using the EVF/LCD port on the tip-top of this unit, but older models are also compatible using the separately available LEMO Adapter. As for the additional inputs and outputs, you’ll find find a control port, aux input, three SDI ports (two for full SDI outputs, and one for only monitoring), ethernet port, DC input, timecode and genlock I/O ports, USB port, 5-pin XLR, 2-pin LEMO, and a 3.5mm headphone jack, all on the left side of this unit.

Power Trip. This camera is fueled purely from the included Gold Mount battery plate, but accessories are powered from the 3 AMP D/P-Tap power inputs located directly above the battery plate.

8K MONSTRO VV Sensor. This unit reps an 8K 40.96 × 21.6mm sensor that takes advantage of full-frame lenses, and allows you to record up to 60 fps at full resolution. You’re able to achieve higher frame rates up to 300 fps by windowing the sensor to lower resolutions. This sensor boasts 17 stops of dynamic range which helps represent both deep shadows and bright highlights in the same frame.
