SmallHD 1703 P3X 17-inch Studio Monitor w/ Gold Mount

The SmallHD 1703 P3X 17-inch Studio Monitor with Gold Mount is a large-format on-set monitor. This version comes ready to accept Gold Mount batteries (not included). Key features include:

Not So Small. The SmallHD 1703 is not really all that small anymore. The larger 17-inch form factor makes it an ideal choice for a client monitor, director’s monitor, or as a multi-view monitor for a video switcher.

Page Builder. First seen on the smaller on-camera SmallHD monitors, Page Builder OS is an easy-to-use GUI that allows you to selectively apply monitoring tools such as waveforms, vectorscopes, multiview, focusing aids, and LUTs on to different pages. You can screen capture and save stills to an SD Card (with a baked-in LUT) that can be used later for reference purposes.

ColorFlow 3D LUT Processing. The 1703’s ColorFlow helps you keep your images consistent from production through post-production. It lets you import 3D LUTs and display the treated and untreated images side by side to correctly gauge exposure while seeing what’s being recorded by the camera. You can also send separate LUT-treated images downstream via SDI and HDMI so that the 1703 displays a log image or LUT-treated image, while monitors connected to the outputs can display images treated with a different LUT.

Speedy Rail Setup. The RapidRail Shoe-Mount System allows you to quickly mount accessories to the back of the monitor using a standard camera shoe mount style configuration. We provide two RapidRail mounts with the 1703 rental.

Daylight Viewable. The 1920 × 1080 Full HD, 10-bit panel is daylight-viewable with a 900 cd/m² brightness rating. There are two SDI inputs and an HDMI input, each with loop-through capability.

Gold Mount. This version of the SmallHD 1703 includes an Anton Bauer Gold Mount battery plate. To help keep cost down and give you the most flexibility, we do not include any Gold Mount batteries or chargers with the rental. However, we do have a variety to choose from that are available to rent separately.

Other Notable Features. There are USB ports mounted at the rear that can power accessories with a maximum draw of 0.5 amps per port. The 1703 can be powered via included AC adapter or Gold Mount battery (separate rental item). We’ve bundled the monitor with SmallHD’s C-Stand Mount to give you the most support options, and the unit features sliding top handle to move the monitor around set.

Q & A

Does this rental include Gold Mount batteries and chargers?

To help keep cost down and give you the most flexibility, we do not include any Gold Mount batteries or chargers with the rental. However, we do have a variety to choose from that are available to rent separately. See Recommended section on the left-hand side of this page, or click here.

Does this rental include HDMI or SDI cables?

This rental doesn’t include any cables. If you need to add cables to your order, you can find our selection of HDMI cables here and SDI cables here!

This stuff looks pretty big and heavy. Are there any items that will help me lighten the load?

Well, there isn’t any magic we can use to make these lighter, but we rent a few carts and hand trucks to help out on your production set. Make sure and check out the Magliner Two-Wheel Folding Straight Frame Hand Truck, the Inovativ Voyager 36 EVO Equipment Cart, and the MultiCart RocknRoller R12RT All-Terrain Equipment Cart. These are all items we’ve found invaluable on our own personal productions, and we highly recommend them to customers as well.

What do I use to hold this big monitor?

We offer a few solutions for this issue. The first one is a mobile work station we’ve put together for shoots where you’re going to be moving around frequently on set and don’t want to continuously need to pick up and move a heavy monitor and stand combo. The Inovativ Voyager 36 EVO Equipment Cart Premium Kit gives you everything you need to make this happen.
Alternatively, if you’re going to be stationary most of the time, check out our Avenger 7.3ft Turtle Base C-Stand Twin Kit or the Kupo 6.7-foot Low Mighty Combo Stand for a rock-solid platform on which to mount this monitor.
