The Paul C. Buff 22-inch High Output Silver Beauty Dish is a lighting modifier designed for use with AlienBees and Einstein strobe units. Key features include:
Designed for PCB Strobes. The Paul C Buff 22-inch High Output Silver Beauty Dish uses a mount that’s specific to PCB strobes, such as the AlienBees DB800 and Einstein E640. The mount is built into the beauty dish itself, so there’s no adapting this to another type.
Light Quality. This modifier offers an even light spread with defined shadows. When used with the include deflector, it blankets the subject with a bright, even light that allows for more defined shadows than a typical softbox. If shadows seem a little too harsh or if the specularity of shiny objects is too extreme, we also include the translucent white diffusion sock that mimics the light quality of a softbox at the expense of 2.5 to 3 f-stops.
Popular for Fashion and Portraiture. The beauty dish is a popular tool for fashion photography, as it defines the subject with a very three-dimensional light. It’s most commonly used at close distances with the deflector attached, but it’s also quite effective at long distances with the deflector removed. The High Output Silver Beauty Dish provides a narrow 45° beam spread when used alone without the diffusion sock, but you can widen it to about 150° when the diffusion sock is mounted.
