Full-Frame Cinema. With the likes of ARRI, RED, and Sony in the game, full-frame cinema seems to be here to stay. The Sony VENICE 6K Digital Motion Picture Camera is a more than competent option for creating large format, cinema-ready images.

6K Sensor. The star of the show is the full-frame, 36.2 × 24.1mm (43.5mm-diagonal) CMOS sensor with 15+ stops of dynamic range and a maximum effective resolution of 6048 × 4032 pixels. You’ll get shallower depth of field and cleaner low-light images.

Dual-Base ISO. If the large sensor didn’t provide enough of a boost to low-light performance, the dual-base ISO feature certainly does. The sensor can be set to a base ISO of 500 in well-lit conditions and bumped up to ISO 2500 for low-light scenarios.

Internal SxS Recording. The camera brain has dual SxS slots that can record XAVC 4K Class480 footage up to 29.97p and XAVC 4K Class300 footage up to 59.94p. Internal recording options also include ProRes 422HQ / 422 / 422 Proxy and MPEG HD422. Simultaneous XAVC & ProRes 422 Proxy recording is available.

Optional External AXS-R7 Recorder. If the above codecs and resolutions aren’t quite enough for you, the Sony AXS-R7 External 4K RAW Recorder allows for 16-bit uncompressed RAW and X-OCN compressed RAW recording to two AXS Series-A media slots. When using this recorder, the camera can capture up to 6K/29.97 fps.

Internal 8-Stop ND System. The VENICE uses two filter trays to combine six filters into 8 stops of exposure adjustment. The filters are controlled by a servo for fast and accurate switching.

Native E-Mount with PL Adapter. Is it weird that one of the VENICE’s more impressive engineering feats is a lens mount? The camera has an always attached locking E-mount, a very versatile mount that can be adapted for lens systems like Canon EF. Sony has made a lens adapter that mounts with six screws over the native E-mount for rock-solid mounting of PL cinema lenses. The PL adapter can transmit Cooke/i data that is saved as metadata.

Installed Upgrades. This rental includes the Full-Frame License and Anamorphic License paid upgrades, and the camera will arrive with them installed. The specs listed on this page reflect the features provided by these upgrades. This camera does not currently have the High Speed License upgrade. If you need this for your shoot please contact us.

Powered by V-Mount. We include an AC adapter with this rental, but the camera also has an attached V-Mount battery plate. No batteries or chargers are included, but we have single Anton Bauer Dionic XT90 V-Mount Batteries and an Anton Bauer Dionic XT90 V-Mount Power Kit 8-Pack available separately.
