Atomos Ninja V+ 5.2" 8K HDMI Recorder w/ Accessory Kit

The Ninja V+ 5.2" 8K HDMI Recorder w/ Accessory Kit is a compact, 5.2-inch, HDMI video recorder capable of capturing 8K RAW and DCI 4K ProRes up to 60 fps to SSD media. This rental includes batteries. Key features include:

Product Updates. The Ninja V+ 5.2" 8K HDMI Recorder w/ Accessory Kit is an upgrade to the previous Atomos Ninja V 5-inch 4K HDMI Recorder w/Accessory Kit that adds a new processor capable of recording RAW 8K/30p and RAW 4K/120p from compatible cameras. H.264 recording is included out of the case, for 10-bit 4:2:2 capture at bitrates up to 350 Mbps. The form factor and screen’s specs are unchanged.

RAW, ProRes, & DNxHR Recording. The Atomos Ninja V+ records DCI as well as UHD 4K with frame rates up to 60p when saving in ProRes or DNxHR formats. RAW is available up to 8K/30p or 4K/120p. Recorded files will have a maximum of 10-bit 4:2:2 chroma subsampling. This recorder is also capable of recording up to 8K/30p RAW from compatible cameras like the Canon EOS R5.

5-Inch, 1000 cd/m², IPS LCD Screen. This recorder has a bright, daylight-viewable LCD panel with touchscreen controls. The 1920×1080, 423 ppi resolution provides super crisp images on the 5" display, and the 10-bit bit depth renders rich, accurate colors.

AtomHDR Display. The traditional Rec.709 video standard is based on an 8-bit color depth and about 6.5 stops of dynamic range. The Ninja V’s monitor features a wide 10-stop dynamic range, making it capable of natively displaying log footage without it looking washed out. Built-in presets for Sony, Canon, Panasonic, ARRI, RED, and JVC cameras convert the typically flat-looking log-based images into vibrant HDR pictures. Please note that the preset looks will only actually affect viewing; the recorded footage remains totally unaltered.

HDMI-Only Interface. The Ninja V+ offers full-size HDMI input and output ports. If you like the Ninja V form factor but need SDI I/Os, we recommend renting the Atomos AtomX SDI Module featuring two configurable 12G-SDI ports, in addition to the rental of this recorder. While the Ninja V does not support any RAW signals via the SDI adapter and there is no cross conversion of HDMI / SDI signals, the separately rentable Atomos Ninja V+ 8K HDMI/SDI Monitor/Recorder Pro Kit supports RAW over SDI as well as cross conversion.

Media & Power. This recorder takes the same Master Caddy II SSD enclosure that has been used for the last few generations of Atomos products, and this rental includes two to install your own SSDs into. Power is provided by one Hawk-Woods DV-F590 battery or an AC adapter. We include two batteries with this rental. SSD media and larger power kits are separately rentable.

Q & A

Can I use Sandisk Ultra 3D SSDs with this recorder?

While the drive physically fits, we’ve observed recording issues with the Sandisk Ultra 3D SSD drives on this model of recorder. See the recommended section for compatible SSDs.

Are there any stipulations to RAW 8K/30p or 4K/120p recording?

RAW recording is highly dependent on specified cameras, cables, and SSDs. If you have any questions about compatibility between this recorder and a specific camera model, contact us and a tech will be happy to help you determine the best gear for your shoot.

Does this rental include batteries and a charger?

Yes! We include two Hawk-Woods DV-F590 batteries and an Atomos Fast Charger with this rental.

Does this rental include an SSD?

This rental doesn’t include an SSD, but they’re available as separate rental items. You can see some options under Recommended on the left-hand side of this page.

Does this rental include mounting hardware?

No. Since everyone’s mounting needs differ, we decided to make mounting a la carte. We have a wide variety of support gear to choose from, including monitor arms.

Does this rental include HDMI cables?
