What’s Changed? While this Sumo PRO-19 4K maintains plenty of the specs we loved about the Sumo SE, like its 19-inch touchscreen display and 4K recording, plenty of upgrades make this all-in-one tool an asset to your production. Now with 8K, 6K, 4K, UHD, 2K, and 1080p raw capture capabilities, this monitor/recorder/switcher is now also equipped with a 4K HDR screen, USB-C external drive support, a CFexpress Type B memory slot, camera control, touch to focus, programmable buttons, EL Zone False Color, and the remarkable OS12 firmware. Most notably, the addition of wireless functions include camera to cloud workflows, NDI HX3, wireless timecode, and of course, Wi-Fi.
Setting The Standard. Forget everything you assumed were barriers within the monitoring-recording-switching world, and open a set of fresh eyes to this trailblazer. Its Wi-Fi and Ethernet connections provide a massive step up within your production, offering direct uploads to platforms like ATOMOSphere, Frame.io, Dropbox, and more, high-quality NDI transmission and receiving over IP streams, and perfectly synced multi-camera setups with AirGlu wireless timecode over Bluetooth of RF.
Control Center Sumo. I’ll likely repeat myself several times, but this thing is nifty! Unlike its predecessor, the PRO-19’s touchscreen now offers camera control over key parameters like start/stop, ISO, shutter, aperture, and white balance, alongside touch-to-focus. This feature becomes increasingly convenient for more demanding setups where the camera functions may not be within reach. With six user-customizable buttons, you have quick access to commonly used functions like exposure, framing and monitoring tools, playback modes, LUTs, and anamorphic desqueeze.
Recording Codecs and Monitoring Tools. This three-in-one powerhouse successfully records 10-bit, 4:2:2 Apple ProRes, ProRes RAW or Avid DNx from SDI or HDMI sources and 10-bit H.265 up to 30Mbps. This allows quick production turnarounds with flexibility to perfect color correction and finishing. Like its predecessor, you have access to features like focus peaking, frame guides, LUT support, vectorscope, and much, much more. However, the PRO-19includes EL Zone™ false color and anamorphic de-squeeze to capture the perfect ratio for your production.
Memory, Audio, and More. Now with a USB-C port to support external SSD drives, the PRO-19 also features a CFexpress memory card slot for 8K RAW capture. Its fully integrated audio and speaker setup offers two balanced XLR inputs and outputs, gain controls, meters, per-channel delay adjustment, embedded HDMI/SDI audio, built-in speakers, and a headphone jack.
