Camera Compatibility. It probably won’t surprise you to hear that the Beachtek DXA-ALEXA Preamplifier for ARRI ALEXA Mini was designed primarily for the ALEXA Mini, but it’s also compatible with the ARRI ALEXA Mini LF and RED DSMC2 cameras. Please note that you’ll need a different cable for each camera: a 5-pin XLR to 6-pin LEMO cable is needed to use it with the ALEXA Mini LF, an XLR5F to Right-Angle LEMO cable is needed to use it with the ALEXA Mini, and a 5-pin XLR to 3.5mm TRS cable to use it with a RED DSMC2 camera.
Direct Recording. The DXA-ALEXA connects directly to your camera, capturing audio directly through transformer-balanced inputs so you don’t have to deal with external syncing.
Ease of Use. This preamp has a 100 dB dynamic range for low-noise operation. Its dual gain controls are detented for maximum precision, and there are high and low switches for mic matching. Switchable 48V phantom power lets you use condenser mics on both inputs, and easy-to-read green/yellow/red level LED indicators let you monitor at a glance. It offers dual-mono recording or stereo recording, and an audio-bracketing feature for backing up your recordings.
Versatility. Two transformer-balanced XLR inputs provide galvanic isolation and high common mode rejection of electronic interference and other common obstacles. There’s an unbalanced 3.5mm jack that you can use to route your signal to external recorders, and there are connections for headphone and loopback monitoring to boot.
