Q & A

Is this camera compatible with light-duty gimbals like the Movi M5 or the Ronin-M?

While a combination of skill, compact lenses, and/or extension arms may make it possible to accurately balance the C200 on gimbals designed for DSLR and Mirrorless systems, we only recommend flying this camera on larger gimbals like the Movi Pro.

Does this camera output 4K via SDI?

No. The C200 is not capable of outputting 4K video over SDI. Currently 4K output is limited to HDMI. For full output specs, click “diagrams” in the resources section of this page.

Are there any known issues with this camera?

Canon has made the side grip’s connection to the camera both very stiff, and very sensitive. Because of this, one must insert the connector into the camera’s port with far more force than anyone would ever think reasonable. A good measure of connection adequacy is to look at the connection from the side. When fully seated, there should not be any gold plating from the connector showing, so keep pushing until it is completely covered. If the camera ever begins to malfunction, or the grip stops working, simply disconnect it and follow the directions above.

Does this camera record 4K internally?

Yes but it’s a little complicated. If you are hoping to shoot 4K DCI, a CFast 2.0 card will be required and you will be limited to Canon’s Cinema RAW Light codec.
If you are hoping to shoot 4K UHD, you will be required to shoot to SDXC cards and you will have the option of a MP4 or MXF container.
