The Nikon Z 50 is a sleek, extremely compact DX-format mirrorless camera in Nikon’s versatile Z mount. Key features include:
Great image quality in an extremely compact build
20.9MP CMOS sensor and EXPEED 6 processor
Fast, accurate autofocus and focus tracking
4K UHD capture at 24/25/30p
Nikon Z System. The Nikon Z 50 belongs to Nikon’s Z-mount system, which gives you exceptional image quality and optical design in a compact build. This system’s inner diameter is 17% larger than the F mount, allowing for more advanced optics and lenses, while the 16mm flange distance is 65% shorter than the F mount, which makes for markedly slimmer body designs. Z-mount cameras are only compatible with Z-mount lenses, and Z-mount lenses only work with Z-mount cameras.
Great Image Quality with Fast Performance. The DX-format 20.9MP CMOS sensor is paired with the EXPEED 6 processor to give you a native ISO range of 100-51,200 and an extended ISO range of 100-204,800. The sensor gives you clean, low-noise images at high ISO values, while the EXPEED 6 processor gives you a 11 fps top full-resolution continuous shooting speed and 30 fps shooting at 8MP.
209-Point Hybrid Autofocus System. The Z50’s AF system uses phase-detection and contrast-detection AF points to quickly and accurately acquire focus, making it great for stills and video. This system supports Eye-Detection AF, which uses facial recognition to focus on a familiar subject’s eyes.
4K UHD Video Capture. The Z 50 isn’t just for ultra-sharp stills; it’s capable of in-camera 4K UHD recording at 24/25/30p, Full HD at up to 120p for slow-motion playback, and in-camera time-lapse shooting with the ability to produce a finished UHD 4K video file directly from the camera. You can save movie files to in-camera memory cards or to an external recorder via HDMI out.
High-Res Electronic Viewfinder and LCD. The built-in EVF boasts 2.3m-dot resolution, 100% coverage, and 1.02x magnification to give you a bright, clear view of what the sensor sees. The tilting 3.2-inch 1m-dot rear touchscreen LCD can also be used for image composition and review when shooting at arm’s length, and its 180° flip-down design is excellent for selfies.
Tough, Compact Build. As you’d expect, the Z50 is plenty durable in spite of its compact and lightweight build. Its magnesium-alloy body features dust and weather sealing, so inclement weather and harsh climates won’t be able to stop you.
Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. The Z50 uses Nikon’s SnapBridge platform to transfer images from the camera to a phone or tablet. Using Bluetooth, you can quickly transfer low-res proxy files to share, tag your files with dates, times and locations, and operate the camera remotely with shutter release and live view display.
Additional Features. The included EN-EL25 battery gives you up to 300 shots per charge, and a single memory-card slot supports SD/SDHC/SDXC card speeds up to UHS-I. You also get a range of special-effects modes and in-camera image-editing options.
